Coterie Wipes Review

Say Waa? Coterie has a new wipe?

When I heard one of my favorite brands had released a new baby wipe, my interest was piqued.

I immediately took out a small loan, I mean, I immediately went online and purchased a 4-pack of wipes — just to give them a spin.

So how does the new Soft Wipe stack up against Coterie’s original, The Wipe?

The Diff

Coterie Wipes comparison

1. Money Honey

If you didn’t catch my reference to taking out a loan, Coterie products are expensive.

Like, super expensive.

Across the board, if Coterie makes it, it’s probably one of the pricier options (okay it’s probably THE priciest option).

When it comes to cost, there is no difference between The Wipe and The Soft Wipe.

Coterie wipes will both run you the same amount, $30.00 for a 224 count (or $0.13 per wipe).  A savings of 15% is offered when you bundle with diapers.

2. Is it Worth it (Let me Twerk it)?

So, is the juice worth the squeeze?

We’re not ready to make that leap just yet.

Coterie Diapers, yes.

I don’t think I can be convinced that a better diaper exists outside of Coterie.

Their pull-up diaper for older toddlers, The Pant, made our list of Potty Training Essentials; especially helpful for toddlers going through potty-training pains.

Coterie wipes

Coterie wipes, I am not quite as sold on the ‘bang-for-your-buck’ factor here.  In our full wipe review, Coterie earns top marks on quality and performance, but the steep price tag drops them out of the top spot.

With other serviceable brands selling between $0.02 to $0.06 per wipe, Coterie is 2 or 3 (or 5) times the price by comparison.

Now that you’re up to speed, what’s the difference between Coterie The Wipe and the new kid on the block, Coterie The Soft Wipe?

3. Ingredients

The secret, my dear, is moisturizers.

Well, aside from the royal blue packaging, The Soft Wipe boasts 8 unique emollients and moisturizers to help replenish baby skin hydration.

Whereas the original white packaged Wipe offers a sense of security to parents by possessing 99% water and only 5 other ingredients, The Soft Wipe’s claim to fame is its silky smooth texture.

Clean and fewer ingredients in Coterie wipes

Like a little cloud of cleanliness for your baby’s bottom.  True to form, I have yet to encounter a wipe so soft, yet so tough – strong enough to handle even the worst of diaper blowouts.

The Soft Wipe is a dream.

That softness does however come with a longer ingredients list – so perhaps exhibit a bit of caution when using The Soft Wipe on newborns or toddlers with skin conditions.

Coterie Soft Wipe ingredients

My youngest son has always had eczema, and I keep an eye out for any flare ups when trying a new wipe (or applying any new soaps/lotions).  I can attest The Soft Wipe had no ill effect on his delicate skin.

In fact, I feel they actually help moisturize rashes and breakouts.

It is here, where we think the sticker price may be justified;  parents can save money in the long run by not needing to add (any or as much) oinment to trouble areas, as well as using less wipes overall due to their gigantic size (8 x 7.5 inches, the largest wipe on the market).

4. More Than a Feeling

Both Coterie wipes styles are bigger (and noticeably thicker) than their competitors, and both have their own unique feel.

The wipe size comparison between the Coterie wipes.

The Soft Wipe may appear larger than The Wipe, but it’s really just due to its elasticity.

The Wipe is made of biodegradable plant fibers, so points for environmental consciousness.  It has a somewhat quilted texture that makes them super thick, and helps to sponge up mess.

Super thick and comfy coterie wipe

The Soft Wipe is enhanced with cotton and has a smoother surface.

It’s that element of cotton that I think really makes The Soft Wipe the better choice when it comes to performance.

Stretchier. More heavy duty.  I never feel like anything is leaking through the wipe itself onto my hand.  It’s the heftiness of a damp paper towel with the gentleness of a wet loofa.

Super soft wipes from Coterie Soft Wipe

In my experience, I’ve found wipes made of plant fibers lacking, perhaps the price one pays for being environmentally conscious.  Sometimes wipes boasting ‘ultra biodegradable’ just push stool around a baby’s bottom rather than sopping it up and truly getting the job done.

While The Wipe is hands down the best in this ‘environmentally conscious’ class, The Soft Wipe is even easier to control, and in my opinion the best of any class (aside from of course breaking the bank with the price tag).

The Low Down

In the end, even though The Soft Wipe advertises as safe for all, I might still go with The Wipe for newborns and babies with sensitive skin.  Just the piece of mind with knowing only 6 ingredients go into making The Wipe make it preferrable.

If your child doesn’t fit into that category, we view The Soft Wipe as the superior performer of the two.

Regardless of your preference, these wipes are both worth trying.

If you know me, you know I’m more about scouring the internet for baby freebies than I am about paying top dollar, which is what you’re doing when you buy Coterie.

I like to get a 4 pack and use them sparingly – for big accidents only.  Like any new product going on your precious baby’s skin, monitor closely and ensure they don’t cause any skin reactions.

When it comes to your baby, of course you want the best.  Coterie ‘The Soft Wipe’ may be just that – the largest and softest wipe out there, from one of the leading baby brands in the game.
