Summer fun with Jan and Jul

As a mom of two young children, finding the right summer gear is essential for keeping them comfortable and protected. I’ve had the pleasure of trying out several products from Jan and Jul, and I’m excited to share my hands-on experiences with you.

These items are all ideal stand-alone purchases – the quality and innovative designs from Jan and Jul are incredible.  One standout (of many) that we love about Jan and Jul is the outfit pairings.  Swimsuits match hats which also match shoes and sunglasses.  The combos are endless!

Bundling sets with the same prints and color schemes is too cute.  I’m already addicted to shopping for my kids, but envisioning how adorable they will look in these different wardrobes is enough to make my heart burst (and my wallet).

Find a design you and your kids love, and pair complementary items to make an outfit. I could (and have) spent hours sifting around looking at all the charming possibilities.

Your little ones will be turning heads while they stay safe in the sun.  Here are some of my favorite summer essentials from Jan and Jul, perfect for your little ones:

Cotton Floppy Hat

The Cotton Floppy Hat has been revolutionary for our sunny outings. Made from 100% breathable cotton, this hat is not only lightweight but also super comfortable for my kids. The wide brim provides excellent coverage, shielding their faces, necks, and even a bit of their shoulders from the sun.

What I love most are the adjustable drawstrings, not just under the chin but also around the head. This ensures a snug fit no matter what the size of the noggin, and it prevents the hat from flying off during windy beach days.

My oldest is in the thralls of her “I can do it myself” phase.  Buckling herself in the car.  Putting on her own shoes.  Washing her hands.  If she can somewhat accomplish it solo, that’s 100% how it goes down.

The chinstrap on these cotton hats are easy enough for her to put on and tighten herself with no issue, making them another item mommy need not help with.

The vibrant colors and cute patterns are an added bonus that my kids adore.  I own a yellow flower and a retro rose 🙂

Water Repellent Adventure Hat

Jan and Jul's water repellent hat

For more adventurous days, the Water Repellent Adventure Hat is a must-have. Its water-resistant material is perfect for unpredictable summer weather and splashy water play.

For whatever reason, my youngest boy has taken more to his water repellent hat.  He loves the dinos (who doesn’t!).  When we step into some shade, I like to flip up the front to expose his face and give him those Yosemite Sam vibes.

The green and blue color scheme goes with a lot of his other shirts and pants, often making him (and me) look good almost by mistake.

The hat features a breathable mesh lining that keeps my children cool, even on the hottest days. The neck flap offers additional protection, while the adjustable chin and head straps ensure it stays in place during all activities.

Whether we’re hiking, visiting the zoo, or spending the day at the park, our Cotton Floppy and Water Repellent Adventure hats have proven to be incredibly durable and effective.  They also both feature breakaway safety clips on the chin strap – an added level of security for parents.

Unbreakable Sunglasses

Jan and Jul’s Sunglasses are another essential in our summer gear collection. I really should have put these at the top of the list, because that’s where they belong. Both style and substance, these sunglasses are just on a whole other level.

They’re designed with shatter-resistant lenses and offer 100% UVA and UVB protection, giving me peace of mind about my kids’ eye safety.

They come with an adjustable strap, ensuring they stay put even on the most active little explorers. The flexible, bendable frames are virtually indestructible, surviving all the rough and tumble play my kids put them through.

My oldest is obsessed with her Orchid Aurora’s, demanding the entire family “put on our sunglasses” whenever a shred of sunlight hits her face.

Because of this obsession, we’ve owned a few different pairs in her first three years – multiple shades from various brands – I can say without question nothing even compares to the quality from Jan and Jul.

Just in case you missed it, I did say that the sunglasses themselves are unbreakable.

The malleable frames can’t be overstated enough, as our family has experienced the excitement of a new set of sunglasses only to watch it all come shattering down when our one-year-old inevitably grabs, bends, and shatters them down (along with his older sister’s dreams).

Fidgety, exploring baby hands need a lot of power to actually do damage to these Jan and Jul sunglasses.  Curious paws will also have a hard time removing them with the adjustable strap, which are pretty much a requirement for my youngest (“Why won’t these stay on your head!?”).

Mix and match – the sunglasses themselves have two different style lenses as well as several unique colors and shapes to choose from.  Find the perfect color combo to pair with your favorite hat and swimsuit!

One Piece UV Swimsuit

The One Piece UV Swimsuit is fantastic for pool days and beach vacations. This swimsuit offers UPF 50+ protection, which means I don’t have to worry about applying sunscreen to every inch of my daughter’s body.

Less work for mom, less lotion for kiddo, it’s already sounding good.

The fabric is quick-drying and breathable, preventing any uncomfortable chafing or rashes. I appreciate the thoughtful design with a front zipper, making it easy to get on and off, even when wet.

Both safe and stylish (she gets genuine compliments everywhere we go — it’s reaching diva level), with tons of different combinations to select from.

My kids love the fun prints on their Jan and Jul swimming suits, and I love the added peace of mind of knowing they’re protected from harmful UV rays.  Our oldest loves her pink strawberries, paired with her pink sunglasses.

Kids Jelly Jumper Flow and Water Shoes

Water friendly shoes

Last but not least, the Jelly Jumper Flow knitted shoes are a staple for our families water-related activities.  When it comes to children’s footwear, Jan and Jul is one of the best in the business.

They offer a wide range of thoughtfully crafted shoes and boots, two summer features being their Water Shoes and the Jelly Jumper Flows.

Both options are lightweight, flexible, and provide excellent traction on wet surfaces, preventing slips and falls.

They’re easy to put on and take off, thanks to the pull-on design and stretchy elastic opening. The shoes dry quickly, so my kids can go from water play to dry land without any discomfort.

Our kids were kitted in their Jelly Jumper Flows for an entire two months of summer camp, and boy did they go through the ringer.  Even though they took a beating, the Jelly’s didn’t skip a beat.

Every day the kids would be sent to camp with socks on, everyday they would return with just shoes, no socks.  The Jelly Jumper Flow shoes look great either way, passing as an everyday shoe worn with socks but secretly built for water recreation.

I love the Jelly Jumper Flows translucent color schemes and ability to morph back and forth – we wear them everywhere from the beach to Sunday church.  The Water Shoes specifically are built more for all-day submerged water play, coming in an array of color combos.

Both are machine washable, making cleanup a breeze after a day of muddy adventures.

Conclusion

Jan and Jul have truly thought of everything when it comes to keeping our little ones safe and comfortable during the summer months.

From sun protection to durable water play gear, these products have become indispensable in our family’s summer adventures.

Happy summer, and here’s to many more sunny, fun-filled days with your little ones!
