Wonderfold Wagon

Have you seen more and more of these Wonderfold wagons out there? Do you wonder what it is? Do you need one for your kids? How much does it cost? That was me.

So I did a thorough research and broke them down for you. Buckle up—or should I say, “wagon up”? Let’s take a wheely good ride on this Wonderfold wagon review.

What is Wonderfold Wagon?

At the heart of it all, Wonderfold began its journey with a simple utility wagon – the kind you’d take on adventures to beaches, mountains, or maybe just to the local park. Their initial intent? To help you lug around anything and everything required for your journey.

But here’s where the plot thickens: Parents, being the innovative souls they are, started using these wagons to cart around their most precious cargo – their kiddos! Even though these original utility wagons weren’t exactly kid-designed, parents saw an opportunity.

Understanding this unexpected twist, Wonderfold pivoted. They thought, “Why not prioritize the safety of these young adventurers while maintaining the convenience of a wagon?” And voilà, the Wonderfold Wagon, also known as a stroller wagon, was born.

Bridging the best of both worlds, they combined the ease of a stroller with the spaciousness of a wagon. As of my last check, Wonderfold boasts a range of models, each crafted to cater to varying needs, with the W4 standing out as their masterpiece.

Who is this for?

If you have little ones and love to take them out for different kinds of adventures, the Wonderfold wagon could be a good option.

If you have 3 to 4 kids that are under 5 years old, the Wonderfold Wagon W4 series would be wonderful for your family. Let’s face it, your double stroller can’t fit them all comfortably. They are not old enough to walk for long preiods of time. These 4-seat stroller wagons can fit them all conveniently with room to boot.

What age is wonderfold wagon for?

The wonderfold wagons are designed for young kids from 6 months + to 5 years old. They do have infant car seat adapters sold separately. If purchased, you can take your baby and toddlers together with this one handy wagon.

The weight capacity is 99 lb per bench. There are 2 seats per bench. You can also convert the 2 seats into 1 seat. You could potentially haul your middle-schooler in the Wonderfold Wagon W4 series if you are strong enough to manage.

Removable, Reclining Seats

Wonderfold W4 Elite and Luxe offers 2 removable benches. Once the benches were removed, the Wonderfold wagon would turn into a classy boxy wagon. You can haul anything, including your little human in this wagon.

The seats are easy to install and comfortable for children. The reclining feature is great when your kids fall asleep during the rides. They’ve really thought of it all in terms of cozyness and function.

Double to Single Bench Seat

The bench seats can be converted to a single-rider seat by moving the magnetic harness to the center of the seats. This offers flexibility if you have fewer kids riding in the wagon — it’s more comfortable for the solo strolls.

Front Zippered Entrance

Wonderfold Wagon Front Zippered Entrance

The front end of the Wonderfold wagon can be used as an entrance by unzipping the side wall. Your little ones can enjoy climbing in and out independently. “Mom, I want to do it all by myself!” Your back will also get a break from lifting them in and out. The front seat does have to be removed first.

Storage Pockets and Storage Basket

Ample storage space includes pockets on all sides and a removable rear storage basket to hold your essentials, diaper bag, toys, snacks, and more.

Adjustable canopy

Wonderfold Wagon Adjustable Canopy

Canopy height can be adjusted by modifying the 4 poles, very heplful to accommodate your growing children. The fabric of the canopy is removable, easy to throw into the washer and clean. You can also position the fabric in various locations to block the sun.

Amy’s Tip

Use a loop scarf or nursing cover like this to add to the canopy pole to provide extra coverage from the sun.

Color Options

There is not much of a color per se. They are all dark color options for the W4 Luxe. W4 Elite does offer one bright orange color. It’s a little too flashy to me but to each their own!

Wonderfold W4 Elite: $699.00

These are the basic prices. It includes the wagon, 2 bench seats with 5-point magnetic harnesses, a rear storage basket, canopy poles and fabric, and a pull strap.

Pros and Cons

Benefits

  • Easy for older kids to nap – Your children can easily transition to naping while seated in the reclined position
  • Large weight capacity – The total wagon capacity for both Luxe and Elite is 300 lbs.
  • Spacious interior – 4 kids can comfortably sit inside with ample room to play. “Keep your hands to yourself!”
  • Plenty of storage space – Besides all the side pockets and removable basket, there are extra storage room under the bench seats.
  • Very comfortable seats – Padding along with reclining features make the seats uber comfortable.
  • Can be folded with seats and canopy attached – Save time and effort without the need to remove or install canopy & seats every single time.

Drawbacks

  • Bulky and heavy – The folded dimension of Wonderfold W4 Luxe is 44.5″x 29″ x 20″. The folded dimension of Wonderfold W4 Elite is 42″ x 29″ x 18.5″. The weight of Wonderfold W4 Luxe is 63 lbs. The weight of Wonderfold W4 Elite is 58 lbs. Both of them are on the big and heavy side when compared to other stroller wagons. They fit into the trunk of most cars, but there’s not much room left for other stuff.

  • Difficult to push on a hill and uneven surface – The small front wheels are not the best at handeling bumps. Pushing up on the wagon, especially when fully loaded and/or trecking up a hill is quite a challenge.

  • Missing a few accessories – No cup holders for parents and no snack tray included. The pull handle is sold separately

  • Expensive If you want to add a pull handle, snack tray, or parent console, it can be easily up the price to around $1k.

Do you need a stroller wagon?

I had never heard of a stroller wagon when I had my first baby. If I did, I might not have bought my double stroller. Instead, I may have opted for a smaller stroller along with one of these stroller wagons.

I have 2 under 2. I barely use my Uppababy Vista 2 stroller as a double stroller. Simply because my 2-year-old doesn’t like to sit in it. She is already to the point where she gets bored sitting in a stroller.

But our first experience with the stroller wagon was completely different. My 2-year-old and my almost 1-year-old can interact with each other in the wagon. There was more freedom for them to play and look around at the same time.

Going out with little ones makes it a lot easier for us as parents. We enjoy getting out and getting into it. For us, stroller wagons mean more fun for everyone, and less fuss for the kids.

Well, that’s our experience. You can decide for yourself. Try a stroller wagon by renting from Baby Quip. That’s the best way to decide whether you need a stroller wagon or which stroller wagon your family may like most.

Conclusion

The Wonderfold wagon is great for 3 to 4 young kids riding together. It offers enough space and lets your kids sit comfortably during the rides. The features of reclining seats and the double-to-single bench set the Wonderfold wagon apart from all the other stroller wagons.

The drawback is that it is a bit heavy and bulky. Because it’s so heavy, I found it hard to load in and out of the car.

Depending on your needs, these Wonfderfold wagons are still pretty wonderful overall. Even if you only have 2 kids. The 4-seater stroller wagon is still a better option. I believe you will enjoy having the extra room for all your essentials and goodies.

Going out with your little ones will be transformed with less fuss and tears!
