Best stroller wagon

We had our first experience with a stroller wagon during a trip to Gatlinburg with our 2 under 2. Our best friends and their young daughter joined us on the trip. The 3 of them enjoyed the stroller wagon so much that my husband and I decided we needed to purchase one!

We discovered that the kids could play with each other in the wagon stroller. Our friend’s daughter who is impossible to keep in a stroller enjoyed sitting in the stroller wagon so much! Her father didn’t have to carry her as he usually does when going out — it was a game changer!

We’ve analyzed an array of stroller wagons available now, assessing them on parameters such as safety features, durability, comfort, ease of use, and customer satisfaction. It really helped our family to pick the suitable stroller wagon and I want to share it with you so that you can be satisfied with your decision.

How to Shop for Stroller Wagons?

Even though the stroller wagon is a new item on the baby gear menu, every year there are more and more brands come out with these stroller wagons. Shopping for a stroller wagon can be very overwhelming. Most stroller wagons are not cheap. You really don’t want to regret it after you make the purchase, so here is the nitty gritty on a few things to consider when you’re shopping around.

You can categorize the designs of current stroller wagons in the market into 2 types: High-Wall and boxy vs. Low-wall and compact-size styles. Each has its own pros and cons.

Most of the High-Wall and boxy stroller wagons are more spacious and offer more storage. But they could be bulky. Some younger toddlers might not like it, as it could be too high for them to look outside. They can’t climb in and out either. However, some stroller wagons in this category offer easy entrance such as Wonderfold.

The low-wall design lets kids hop in and out easily. Most kids love doing that. It is also more interactive with the outside as kids of any age and size can easily see everything outside. This kind of stroller wagon is also compact in size, as it can fit in most types of cars.

Other features worth consideration are: folding & unfolding, steering and maneuverability, terrain performance, easy to clean, capacity (is it 2 seats of 4 seats), nap system, infant car seat compatibility, and cost.

Make sure you try it out at a store or from rental services such as Baby Quip or Rents 4 Baby.

1. Veer Cruiser (XL) All-Terrain Hybrid – Best Stroller Wagon for Luxury and Easiest to Clean

Best Stroller Wagon for Luxury and Easiest to Clean

If I had to use one word to describe Veer Cruiser Stroller Wagon it would be WILD! You can take your kids anywhere with the Veer Cruiser Stroller Wagon. Going through beach, mud, hill, valley, grass, city, snow…you name it. It’s a true all-terrain stroller wagon. Not all stroller wagons can handle all this excitement, but Veer takes the cake.

Key Benefits

  • Expandable Footwell
  • Contoured and Vented Seats
  • Adjustable Vegan Leather Grip Handle Bar
  • Large Rugged, Knobby All-Terrain Wheels
  • One-Hand Fold and Self-Standing
  • Compatible with Infant Car Seat
  • Hose Cleanable
  • Nap System

Pricing

$699.00 – $799.00

Pros

  • Very durable quality
  • Very easy to clean
  • All Terrain Performance
  • Compact fold
  • Expandable Footwell
  • Easy to assemble

Cons

  • Most accessories need to be purchased separately
  • Expensive

What Else to Consider

The only thing with Veer Cruiser is expensive! If you are trying to get all the accessories, it will add up pretty fast. If you can afford the price, maybe get accessories one by one, I think it is worth the price. To me, easy cleaning is by far the most important perk. You know what I’m talking about. With young kids, we are constantly washing blow-out clothes, scrubbing messy car seat covers, etc … one less thing to dissemble and wash is the key feature that floats my boat.

Veer Cruiser Wagon Stroller is everything you could ask for a wagon stroller. It’s super sturdy, easy to push and pull, and extremely easy to clean (last time I’ll mention it I swear). It takes only 20s to fold or unfold. We found it the easiest among all stroller wagons to go from packed to open and vice versa. You can use it from infant to elementary school age (about 0-5 years old), making it super versatile and fun for the whole family.

2. Gladly Family Anthem 2 or 4 – Best Stroller Wagon for Value

Gladly Family Anthem

If your budget doesn’t have room for Veer, Anthem will be your best choice — it’s very similar to Veer in design and performance but not as expensive. Anthem is relatively new in the market, many people have not heard about it. But in our opinion, it provides higher quality than its competition.

It is easy to maneuver and offers a compact fold similar to Veer. The weight is somewhat heavy, but still on the lighter side when compared to all stroller wagons. Unlike Veer, it comes with more accessories such as canopies and a storage basket. Even though it doesn’t look as luxurious as Veer, it’s a lot easier on your wallet to get more function out of the stroller wagon.

Key Benefits

  • Footwell
  • 2 L Water-resistant Canopies with mesh inserts
  • Push and Pull Mode
  • Adjustable Vegan Leather Grip Handle Bar
  • Sturdy, welded aluminum frame
  • Quick-release Rugged All-Terrain Wheels and Suspension
  • One-Step Fold and Self-Standing
  • Compatible with Infant Car Seat
  • 3-Point Harness Seats
  • Comes with a storage basket

Pricing

$499.00 – $649.00

Pros

  • Affordable price with high-quality parts and performance
  • Compact fold
  • Easy to push and turn
  • Tons of storage capacity

Cons

  • Handle height is fixed at 42.5″
  • The footwell is not easy to clean

What Else to Consider

The handle cannot be adjusted. The height of the handle is 42.5″ in push mode, and depending on your height this can be uncomfortable for some people. The canopy can be a little small for older kids. A tall 5-year-old boy may not comfortably fit under the canopy. The folding can be challenging sometimes as the fold button can at times get stuck — we found it requires a little extra force to do the trick. The fabric can’t be removed for cleaning. It’s spot-cleaning only, but as we see that’s the case for most stroller wagons outside of Veer.

If your kids are still small in stature, where you live has lots of sun and bugs, and you don’t want to spend too much money on a stroller wagon (but still want the adventure), Anthem is the right choice for you. Get Anthem 4 instead of Anthem 2 if you can afford it. Even if you only have 2 kids, we think the extra space it provides for storage, toys, and/or even pets is well worth it.

3. Joey The Wagon – Best Stroller Wagon for Cities

Zoey the Wagon

You might not have heard about Joey The Wagon as it’s a newcomer in the stroller-wagon world. We found that this newcomer doesn’t lack the quality or functionality of a stroller wagon. Joey was born under the love of a Mom who knew what her children needed, but also what a Mom needs. It’s very aesthetically pleasing. You can feel confident ditching the stroller and utilizing Joey instead for everyday use. I think it’s very easy to fold and fits comfortably into most cars. Both Mom and the kids love Joey.

Key Benefits

  • Safety rear wheel fenders
  • Footwell
  • 2 Canopies with mesh window
  • Removable Cup holder
  • One-handed seat folds down and Self-Standing
  • Compatible with Infant Car Seat
  • Side mesh storage pockets
  • It comes with a storage basket

Pricing

$685.00 (Currently on sale: -15% @ $585.00)

Pros

  • High-quality materials
  • Compact fold
  • Lightweight
  • Easy to assemble
  • Easy wipe clean

Cons

  • Canopy doesn’t provide all coverage of the sun
  • Only have 2 seat option
  • Only can use it until age 4

What Else to Consider

I wish Joey could have a bigger canopy. The 2 canopies that come with the box don’t provide enough sun coverage. If you live in a place with moderate weather and ample shade, this wagon might be fine. The bottom parent cup holder doesn’t fit tall mugs well. If you like to use bigger taller water bottles, the cup holder on the handle is the better option. There are only 2 seats. If you have more kids or a bigger family, this might not be the right choice. The nap accessory to turn the wagon into a bassinet is sold separately.

Overall Joey is a really high-quality small-size wagon, good for city or travel. For a smaller family with one or two young kids, you can’t go wrong with Joey the Wagon. The kids will enjoy this slick wagon a lot more than the stroller.

4. Keenz 7S+ – Best Stroller Wagon for Hot Weather

Keenz 7S plus

Keenz has an entirely different design from Veer, Anthem, or Joey. It is a really cool stroller wagon fully loaded with a lot of accessories that make family outings fun. If you like to pack a lot of drinks and stuff while still getting organized, the Keenz 7S series is the one for you. They are the only stroller wagon that has a built-in cooler and ventilated shoe storage! How cool is that! There are tons of side pockets and storage to keep organized.

Key Benefits

  • Adjustable In 10 Different Positions 2 handle design
  • Large Storage On Both Sides, Storage bin & Phone / Cup Holder / Cooler box compartment
  • 2 External pockets w zipper 4 Internal pockets
  • 4 seats with a 5-point harness
  • Lightweight Durable Aluminum Frame
  • Canopy system with blackout panels Peaked Roof, Build In Mesh With Side Curtains
  • Footwell with cover Plate
  • Cushioned interior
  • Travel bag

Pricing

$749.99

Pros

  • Full coverage tall canopy Build In Mesh With Side Curtains
  • Large storage capacity
  • Comes with a travel bag
  • Built-in cooler!
  • Ventilated shoe storage

Cons

  • Can’t be used with an infant car seat
  • Heavy, large, and bulky

What Else to Consider

The side walls are quite high. It can be good or bad. Some kids may feel safe and comfortable in it. For younger kids, it might be hard to see outside of the wagon. The spacious feature comes with a price. Keenz 7S Plus is 33″ wide, a bit bulky in comparison. It doesn’t fit through all standard doors. You can’t use the stroller wagon with an infant car seat. The recommended age is from 1 year to 5 years old. If you have an infant in the family, he or she can’t join the stroller wagon ride with the older sibling(s).

If your kids are all a little bit older and you like to have long outings, and you live somewhere with lots of sun and hot weather, Keenz 7S+ is your stroller wagon. Pack all your cold drinks, goodies, and essentials as Keenz 7S+ offers all the storage you need!

5. Bob Renegade™ Wagon – Best Stroller Wagon for Smooth Rides

Bob Renegade Wagon

Bob Renegade Wagon is another new high-quality stroller wagon. You probably have not seen many reviews of it, because it is relatively new and launched earlier in 2023. Bob is the only 3 seats stroller wagon on the market. What a unique design! The wagon goes narrower from 2 seats to 1 seat. It boasts 3 simple steps to fold and unfold with one hand, which makes going out with kids very easy.

Key Benefits

  • 3 seats with a 5-point harness
  • Welded Aluminum Frame
  • Water-Resistant Fabric
  • Footwell
  • Polyurethane Foam, Large XtraMile Tires
  • 4 integrated storage pockets
  • 2 Adult Cup Holders Included
  • Child Snack Tray Included
  • The snack tray can be switched between the middle and the back of the wagon

Pricing

$649.99 – $749.99

Pros

  • The slick design of folding and unfolding
  • Durable
  • All-terrain performance
  • Smooth ride
  • Easy to push and pull

Cons

  • Not compatible with infant car seat
  • Not a lot of accessories or storage for now

What Else to Consider

3 Seats. I don’t know what to make of this 3 seat design. Maybe the older kid can sit on the one-seat side and have more room. If you have more young kids, you might have to consider other options. You can’t use an infant car seat with this stroller wagon. It does offer 5-point harness seats which is a plus. You’ll just have to wait until your baby is at least 6 months old. There is no storage basket that comes with the wagon nor as an accessory option. It does have 4 integrated storage pockets where you can put toys or snacks with easy access for the kids.

Just like its strollers, the Bob Renegade wagon also lives up to its expectations. It is a really high-quality performance stroller wagon. It might not have a lot of accessories at this moment as it is so new. Who knows, they might launch more accessories in the future. I really like its slick look. If you love outdoor activities with your kids, and frequent unique terrain styles, this would be a great alternative to the Veer Cruiser.

6. Larktale 2023 Caravan – Best Stroller Wagon for Kid’s Comfort

Larktale 2023 Caravan

Larktale 2023 Caravan is a classic-boxy-looking wagon. But It maneuvers like a stroller and sits like a stroller. It makes long rides more fun and enjoyable due to the well-padded seats. The 2023 Caravan is one of the largest inner dimensions of any stroller wagon. This provides ample room for kids to sit and play. With the blackout canopy, they may feel like they’re in a cave while riding in the wagon.

Key Benefits

  • 2 seats with a 5-point harness
  • Up to 93 lbs capacity per seat
  • Multi-position individual reclining seats
  • Adjustable handlebar to different angles
  • Footwell
  • All-wheel suspension
  • Large storage basket with a separate vented zipped compartment
  • 4 mesh interior pockets keep your child’s snacks and toys within their reach
  • Rear Seat back storage organizer with multiple pockets for personal items
  • Deluxe Rain Cover Included
  • Compatible with Infant Car Seat

Pricing

$629.99

Pros

  • Biggest Seat Capacity
  • Cover footwell converts it into a nap system
  • Removable fabric hand washable
  • Can be converted to 4 seats with a 5-point harness
  • Kids can nap in the reclining seats

Cons

  • The 4-seats are sold separately
  • Footwell cover is hard to operate
  • Snack tray could be too tall for young toddlers

What Else to Consider

The 2023 Caravan is not an all-terrain stroller wagon. It can handle grass and fine gravel but is not recommended on sand, making it hard to push the stroller wagon on the beach. For sand, you would have to pull the Caravan. But the front-hand bar is not a true pull handle — the pull handle is available for purchase and sold separately.

Because of the high sidewall design, the snack tray can be too tall for some young toddlers. You can buy a kid’s activity-travel tray. Your kids can put snacks and toys on it, which makes the ride more fun. The price of the roomy and comfort is the size. Same as other high-wall design stroller wagons, it’s difficult for the kids to climb in and out by themselves. You will have to provide some help.

The 2023 Caravan is a little longer and bigger than the other stroller wagons. The folded size is also large. Be sure to check your car’s capacity before purchasing the wagon.

If you have a big car and your kids are a little bit older, I would choose the 2023 Caravan. It is the most comfortable stroller wagon you can find for your little ones. It’s unique in providing kids with their own little space while traveling out and about.

7. Evenflo PIVOT XPLORE – Best Affordable Stroller Wagon

Best affordable stroller wagon

Evenflo Pivot Xplore is a much more affordable stroller wagon with great performance. The shorter length design makes it push like a stroller. Flip the handle, it pulls like a wagon. The drop-down feature makes it easy for kids to climb in and out.

  • Change from push to pull mode with on a flip
  • All-Terrain performance
  • Front seat drop-down
  • Compact Fold

  • Easy to fold
  • Easy to climb in and out for kids
  • Low price

  • No lockable wheels
  • Doesn’t stand well when folded
  • No parent cup holder

What Else to Consider

The Pivot Xplore stroller wagon is not very roomy. There is no nap system or cup holder for parents. You can put your bottle in the side pocket.

However, considering the price and ease of use, it is overall a great choice for a stroller wagon.

Cons

  • Bulky and heavy
  • Difficult to push on a hill and uneven surface

  • Missing a few accessories

  • Expensive

What Else to Consider

The Wonderfold wagon doesn’t have a wide range options of for infant car seat compatibility. Make sure to check whether your infant car seat can be used with Wonderfold wagons. Pushing over bumps is a little challenging with the smaller front wheels.

Overall Wonderfold W4 wagons work well in parks, playgrounds, and zoos – all smooth grounds.

Stroller Wagon SPECS Comparison

Why Do You Need a Stroller Wagon?

Are your toddlers fighting the stroller? Does your toddler try to climb out of the wagon when it’s not safe for them to get out? That’s when you need something in between the stroller and the wagon – a stroller wagon!

Mostly, for toddlers who are too big for a stroller but not big enough for long walks, the stroller wagon can secure them in the seats so that they don’t get out when you don’t want them to get out. At the same time, they have the flexibility and room to snack and play (face-to-face, or side-by-side) with each other.

A stroller wagon combines convenience with versatility. It’s not just about transporting our precious cargo; it’s about doing it with ease, comfort, and a touch of fun!

Besides, a stroller wagon is still a wagon. Once your kids outgrow the stroller wagon, you can use it as a wagon to haul things around. It won’t be like a stroller, sitting in your storage room, collecting dust.

Frequently Asked Questions

I hope both you and your children enjoy rides and adventures from here to the moon. Push, pull, pack, store, and explore your favorite new item for the fam! Choose wisely, and happy strolling!
